Description

Grand Ballon, top of the Vosges (France)! At an altitude of 1424 meters (4672 feet) we get a splendid view on parts of the Vosges and more distant mountain-ranges like the Jura (left mountain on horizon). The temperature is about -10 centigrades Celsius (14 degrees Fahrenheit) with a freezing wind and I've never been so glad they've erected a statue of Napoleon here, providing little shelter from the elements. Very hypnotic, as the eye follows the mountains into the multi-layered clouds, nice work.

getting lost in those incredible rolling clouds and soft pastels...feeling completely alone in the world as the wind burns my face. sometimes you just find yourself alone in life. i like to dream when i'm alone. i'd better find a warmer spot. hard to dream when you're freezing your A_S off!!! LOL. it's such a beautiful, peaceful capture, Jan-Carel, that soothes my mind. walking into valley in search of warm fire and hot coffee....

I am familiar with that place so I can easily understand what you've been going' through. Apart from that.. your today's contribution is a very spectaculair one. Not only the beautiful view, but also the colors. The pastels that look so fragile.. marvelous..

As Caesar's legions might have seen it. Helvetia sur Frank Do you think they climbed while surveying to build roads? A rhetorical question that keeps out the Storm troopers.

The cold air acts as a sheer veil to hide what lies beneath, love the softening effect. The silhouettes of the distant peaks loks very beautiful. Magnificent =)
