Very cool concept and idea...I would vary the tail length on the meteors so they don't look so repetitive (copied)...it would also add randomness and depth. Add some surface layers to the terrain with contrasting colors...still, cool work!! (see my gallery..."Bombardment") :)

Normally meteors don't fall vertically - they come in more striving as if radiating from a point in the sky (the radiant).
