Down and deep the trio travelled. The silence and darkness were almost overwhelming. The only movement of the air came in rythmic flows like the tunnel itself was breathing softly. The ground they travelled on slowly became littered with more and more bones and skeleltons of all manner of creatures. The sounds of their own footsteps and heart beats seemed to echo in the small confines of the cave. As their fear grew they were hesitant to speak lest something unseen should hear them. More and more bones crunched beneath their feet; small bones like those of rats and other small creatures soon were covering the ground so that the stone itself was barely visible beneath them. The snapping sounds seemed like thunderous booms. Even their best attempts at moving quietly seemed impossible. The sense that something would hear their commotion intesified their terror, but they pressed on and they soon came upon an archway. The arch was composed of bone, but they would have had to been ribs of some enormous beast. Sharra and Nightsong struggled to peer beyond it as she sent her globe of silently glowing flame forward. Neelas attention was more on the decaying humanoid skulls and the human skeleton, just recently stripped of its flesh, which was slumped up against the wall. The stench of death was all around now. This was the entrance to the tower. All was quiet as they stood before it barely able to breathe. The three exchanged glances amongst themselves to boost their courage.
