Description

This is my Work In Progress for an ad I'm doing. The first one was posted earlier. This is no. 2 Just a basic background nothing special, so don't comment on that. I just wanted to get some HDRI lighting on the hydrant with textures. Now the water and droplets were done with Photoshop. I wish I can make realistic water with C4D but I can't...yet. Comments welcome :)

modeling flowing liquids is one of the hardest and most computer-intensive things going out there, even worse than modeling hair, even in high-end packages..it looks great to me.

yeah the background is just a temp. Something to plug in there in this WIP until I get something better :) Thanks for the comments, I agree that water is extremely difficult, I just haven't seen it done realistically except in the movies and those are with very high end systems. So for now PS will have to do. :)

Beautiful render and you should be proud with the water and hydrant realism.

A nice bold water effect in this image. Take a look at the Next Limit site if you would like to try making some realistic 3D fluid with the RealFlow3 demo. http://www.nextlimit.com/realflow/index.html

Why not just use a photo of a hydrant if you're using Photoshop to make an ad?

The water looks great but the red shader on the hydrant itself looks a bit too much like plastic (it's one of Herbert's SLA presets, right? - I use that one myself very often :)

I wanted to do the Hydrant in Cinema to stretch my modelling muscles a bit. :) Practice makes perfect they always say. Yes that shader is from Herbert's Noctua site - http://www.noctua-graphics.de/ I love their shader. I found them a while back and they are in the Goodies section of C4D XL 9. It's the Aged red paint. I could tweak it some more, but my boss loved it so much, that I didnt feel that I had too do much more to it. I want to do that RealFlow water, but the price is a bit high, and I can't justify getting it at the moment, unless we do extensive water stuff. Thanks for the comments, I'll definitely work on the realism more :)

An absolutely stunning render! I like the hydrant, but I absolutely love the water. It looks very realistic.. I could almost feel it.
