Description

The demons are back, picking at my insides with chisels. This time there is no escape. There is no desolate city packed with happy people, there are just the abandoned friendships of workers who carry on their business around me. They may feign an interest in my problems for a few short minutes, but they have bigger problems at hand. Meanwhile, I sit and suffer in silence, with nothing to do but listen to the demons. "Beg, Borrow, and Steal" they chant in silent mantras, deep in the milk of my brain, while kicking and scratching at the back of my head. One demon sits on my shoulder and points out everyone who shares my habits. The angel on my other shoulder hasn't been there for years, so I've had to fill in for him lately. There is no financial freedom here to scrape up, this is no place for profit. I must sit here and talk to the folks who I've been paid to talk to, but my patience is slowly growing shorter. Their problems have no interest to me, but the phone's hook is directly linked to whatever finances I had in the first place. The burning is branching out to my arms, twitching for no reason. However, something tells me that I exist now more than ever. I will not give in so easily this time, this time I will enjoy the torture. ------------------------------------------------ This is actually the second thing I've written today. The first thing I wrote I decided would work better on my bio. :)

Interesting sequel. "The angel on my other shoulder hasn't been there for years, so I've had to fill in for him lately." - What an interesting line. I heard it spoken once that "next to Jesus you are your best friend; and next to the devil you are your worst enemy". Seems quite appropriate in light of your words. Isn't it amazing how pain points to our reality - in some ways more than pleasure?

I guess it's better to be the 'pay receiver' than the 'pay giver'? WINK. Excellent piece. I love how concise you write in addition to your thoughts penned. V

Yep ... you've got it pinned down without excessive emoting - refreshing these days - to give an entertaining and stimulating read.
