Description

The demons of habit torture my body, tearing at the fabric of my lungs. They get into my head and pound with chisels, convincing me I do not have the will to go on. I must have what they want me to have, I must give in to their desires, and light their unforgiving fires. I wander the streets of the city alone, despite the crowds around me. I see the others happily giving in, and wish to join them. They do not know the agony of the absence of their joys. I twitch uncontrollably every time I see them. My pride sits in the way, telling me no, and my pride is the only thing that has kept me going this long. But pride wears thin when the demons of habit are laughing in my face. I am not strong enough to keep this going, I must give in. I collect the small amounts of financial freedom I have left, and seek the budgeted choice. I have given in to the demons of habit, and they are laughing even harder for they have won yet again.

Interesting perspective on "control". The second line was very powerful - reality of the thought and the way you expressed it. I'd love to know how this came about.

Habits are still choices - they are not separate entities. When you are truly ready to kick your habit you will be truly resolute and make your preferred choice. Well written.

Dont give in and hold it at bay. You can change and stop the demon from controlling you. Good wording excellent.

When I read this line "and light their unforgiving fires" I thought it might refer to quitting "smoking"? Tell me if I'm wrong, but if that is the "habit", I know it's a difficult habit to break many have tried and few succeed some had to do so with help from the patch. But I might be completely off base on what habit you're referring to...regardless of the habit though this was wonderfully written.

The thought here in this is about smoking as in cigarettes established understanding from this line "The demons of habit torture my body, tearing at the fabric of my lungs." This writing well done a positive to come from fire as it has ignited thought within. Thank you, two minds are always better then one, together we can find a way to permanently beat this damn demon! (Expect to hear from me soon.) Excellent writing, thank you for sharing. VOTE
