Description

This is a portion of the Thomas Viaduct near Relay, MD. If you've ever played Railroad Tycoon III, you've encountered Relay. It's in the first scenario and you had BETTER build a station there to develop a revenue base.... or go bust. The real Relay is definitely a small railroad town, and I hope to get some pictures of it. The viaduct is one of those things that the 'experts' said was impossible to build. It's still in use. I believe this is the oldest RR viaduct in the US. Anyhow you can read up on it via a Google search. Relay is a stone's toss from Elkridge Landing, MD. This was the first deep-water port in the area. Full-size sailing ships could come up the river and take on cargo. However, the river was unpredictable. The transshipment town was on the flood plain. One building is left. Lots of flotsom high in the bushes and trees... it still floods. Anyhow, we will be seeing more of Patuxent State Park as we poke around for more industrial stuff that most folks don't look twice at. Enjoy; thanks for viewing.

He he! Sometimes you just gotta know when to leave things go! This is rough turf. Didn't need much enhancement.
