Description

Here is a Staedtler lead pointer that I modeled with Rhino v2 and rendered with Flamingo v1. I decided to get rid of the plain blue plastic body and go with a brushed metal version instead. The black plastic is textured using Flamingo's procedural sandpaper. The brushed metal is a homemade texture. The wood texture was downloaded off the internet as a very light colored wood, then color modified in Paint Shop Pro prior to use. The Staedtler logo was originally downloaded as a white and blue image but I changed it to a white and black image using Paint Shop Pro. Render time in Flamingo was 2h 28m. Edit: Forgot to mention that minor brightness, contrast, and color corrections were made in Paint Shop Pro after the final render.

This is fantastic, I uses to have the big metal one with the crinkle finish on it. Maybe mine was just crinkled with age, but it was crinkled. You did a great job. VOTE

Great job,,, funny how you drew an old school drafting tool with a computer drawing program that made these old tools nearly extinct. It would be cool to draw a bunch of old circle templates and stuff to go with it. Once again great job.

Very realistic. Great subject too! Yup, you can tell how old the person is when they start showing off precision drafting equipment. Then there were the Mechanical Pencils or Lead Holders, Eraser Shield, Gum Eraser... ...can anyone remember those sand paper boards we used when you couldn't afford one of these?

Wow Matt, thats fantastic! Is this the render you mentioned taking all that time? The brushed metal texture is superb. Can't get over the reality here, brilliant!
