Police Detective with the Galveston Police Department. I worked Patrol for 6 years and transfered to the Identificatio Division (CSI).  Before that I was a Deputy Sheriff in Galveston County from 1998 to 2005. Learned to doodle with Microsoft Paint there. I Got a digital camera and carried it with me like a security blanket, but it's old and retired now. Now I have a Department issued Nikon D-90. It's like taking everyone with me wherever I go. I had a picture of me with one of my pet Dragons, Othello, on my shoulder. I have since divorced and she took the Dragons with her. Othello and Luna have both passed on, but you can still find them in my gallery.BIOI'm a BOI (Born On Island) from Galveston,Texas. I was raised here until 1984 when I went to the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Tx. I graduated from there in 1990. Worked as a cashier and sacker at Fiesta Mart #16 on NASA Rd 1 and I45 until I joined the Navy on February 20th 1991. I served in the Balistic Missle Submarine Fleet on the USS Francis Scott Key SSBN 657 where I learned to navigate as a Quartermaster. I then transfered to the America Battle Group on board the USS Groton SSN 694. I was released from the Service in February 1995 and returned to civilian life as bookseller at Barnes and Noble in Naples, Florida, where I met my wife, Jennifer. Then we moved to Sabastian, Florida where I was unemployed for several months before returning to Texas to attend the Police Academy at the University of Houston-Downtown. I graduated in November 1997. I was hired by the Galveston County Sheriff's Department under Sheriff Joe Max Taylor in February of 1998. I joined the SORT (Special Operations Reaction Team) in the Summer of 1998. Sheriff Taylor retired in 2000 and Gene Leonard was elected as Sheriff. He renamed the Sheriff's Department to Sheriff's Office (I guess that saved on ink). I worked in the County Jail longer then I have had any other job, six years and eleven months. During which time my wife left for Florida in April, 2003. The Sheriff's Office paid me ok for sitting around babysitting a bunch of inmates. I was hired by the Galveston Police Department (they're going to waste alot of ink), and started on January 10th, 2005. I had 8 weeks of Bootcamp there and made a few updates my gallery with Academy stories. I graduated on March 4th, 2005 and my first night on the Field Training Officer Program was March 6th. In June, 2011, I transfered to Major Crimes ID (CSI). Ok....I've decided that other people have more stuff about their hobbies and interests, so I'm going to add that stuff here. I love Warhammer 40K and other Science Fiction francises, and Anime. I like Renaisance Faires (especially the Texas Ren Faire near Houston. I hope to one day own my own medieval harness. I like kayaking and mild (as opposed to extreme) camping. Just go out there with a tent and barbeque for a day or two then go home and take a shower. I also have a long love affair with philosophy and mysticism especially Judaic Kabbala, Christian Gnosticism and Freemasonry. I have also been exposed to a bit of Confusionism, Buhdism, and a tad of Shinto. In my Gallery you will find: Poetry (Including a couple of Haikus) Short Stories MS Paint Pics (mostly Warhammer 40K stuff) Photographs of: Landscapes Birds Dogs Prison and Jail (some graphic some not) My Sister and her Unit in Iraq Police Beat Stories. I've neglected this site and my Gallery for too long and will soon post new stuff.

I can appreciate your formal guidlines in training and the logistics within the law to provide legal representation for the people, however...I have a rather non-official simplified list that might be more suitable. 1.) Forget public approval as we all want the same thing; low crime, low taxes, and peace. If you have to chase a culprit for 4 blocks and hit him in the head with a blunt object...that's fine by me. If the culprit refuses to co-operate, he is either guilty or on drugs...don't need my holy approval for that. 2.) If given culprit reaches for his/her pockets after being told 10 times to put their hands over their heads...shoot between the eyes. I promise I won't impeach the mayor. 3.) Serve and protect! This is all you really need to know. The question is; serve who and protect what? The general idea is to protect the law abiding public and serve the perpetrators with a sentence. Just please forward this to all your lawyers in the general area as they don't understand this yet...it's a question of money, not scruples. 4.) Be honest to yourself and trust your instincts. If you pull someone over and they smile too much or are too nice, 90% of the time they are guilty of something...probably cocaine dealers that have excellent sociial skills. Feel free to open fire at the first kilo that falls out of the glovebox. 5.) Always treat obvious law abiding citizens as such. Be friendly, have a chat with people...this is public consent in a nutshell. If your local unit shoots a house into swiss cheese for proven cause...I'm OK with that. I have seen meth houses blow city blocks into dust here because nobody dared to take a logical first step. Sometimes innocent people die due to ignorance and it's a shame. 6.) Socialize a little. Nobody likes Robocop touring the block, they want input and advise. The best way for public approval is to favor the citizens....you'll get much more info this way and make way more friends. 7.) Rent all the Dirty Harry films you can get and pick the good and bad parts out of them and think...why does Harry's town have such a low crime rate? Hrmmmm LOL Hope this helps, but probably me more than you. Good luck, and I'll follow up on your writings. Excellent work, and I believe you will be great in this! V

Shardz has some good points but the law has to follow the law. They cant just go shooting up anyone just because they smile too much. And just to weigh both sides let me tell you a little story about hunches and instincts. Over a year ago I was having issues with some neighbors that had rented the house nextdoor. It was a single mother of 4 girls with her boyfriend who had 2 children of his own. This woman (I use the term loosely) was the most disgusting, rude, evil piece of trash I ever had the displeasure of meeting. She would have friends over and they would stay up til 4 in the morning drinking, singing and screaming on the front porch. I called the police many nights but it did no good. After the officers left they would go right back to the same thing. She even got her children in on the act and they would yell obscenities at the house and flip me off. These were young girls ranging from 7 to 14. The police suggested a mediator. This guy was an ass from day one and biased beyond any clue. He visited her first and by time he had came to talk to me he was accusing me of things I had never done all because she told him. Needless to say the mediator didnt work out and a few months after this mediator got internally investigated and accused of lying, selling his neighbors car without their consent, forgery and doing all of this while on the clock. Thanks to our lowlife mayor this idiot is still on the force. So you see just because someone wears a badge doesnt make them the good guy. No offense Metonicus. By the way great writings and thanks for taking the time to keep everyone informed.

ROFLMAO! Thanks, Shardz. I'm going to print up your comment and give it to Sgt. Trevino. I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it.
