Description

Do you want an upgrade to the original RealSkinShader? This is a poll to gauge the interest people have in me providing a free update of the original RealSkinShader - incorporating a few of the tricks that were learned while doing the HyperReal product. The above (very unflattering) image compares the shaders, under the same light conditions. Because I used the same lighting - the two images on the right are a little exposed (in order to get any life into the second image). If you want to see the better render with these shaders, check other images! From left to right....no skin shader, the original RealSkinShaders, the updated RealSkinShader and the HyperReal shader - all using the HyperReal texturemaps. The main improvement in the revised RealSkinShader is the highlights. Other improvements (taken from HyperReal) would be adjustment of bumpmap strength, improved and adjustable highlights, the oiliness effect and the script settings would be saved in the pz3 file (so the script remembers the settings you previously used for each figure). What cannot be bought across from HyperReal are the texture specific items, such as alpha maps for spots, specular and sss, lip gloss and tone/brightness adjustments. Based on some test renders I loosely estimate that the revised RealSkinShader bridges out half the gap between it and the HyperReal shader. So if you want me to do an upgrade, post below - and let me know if you want the figure and main light selection as it currently runs - or the HyperReal way (select the main light and figure and then run the script). If there is enough support for an upgrade I'll do it.

Aside from the shiny lips, I think the left one is the most realistic.

I would also vote to support an upgrade. I don't have it yet but will. I spent that money buying the HyperReal system.

I would love to buy it if it would look like the 3rd image, with perhaps the gloss and bump look of the HyperReal lips, which is the right, I think. I think that would be awesome, and perhaps with tweaking could be used with many texture maps! Yes, please do an upgrade! I totally love HyperReal, and would love to have the SkinShader for use with other texture maps. :-)

The revised one is definitely more realistic and I like the idea that many settings will be saved into the pz file. Also the current setup, may be the better alternative, but I will go with what you people actually see as being more appropriate. Steve

I think I'd vote for the upgrade. I like the look between 3 & 4. But ya know it so depends on the persons skin. I've photographed people anywhere from 1-4 on this scale. Some peoples complexions are just a bit rougher. Awesome work none the less. -jay

An upgrade sure would be great. :) I haven't had a chance to try RealSkinShader yet, even tho i bought it a while ago. :( Good to see the comparison images! :) Agreed with StevieUKwonder, The revised one is definitely even better. :)And yes the settings saved in the pz3 sounds great too. Agreed with Jay7347, the best ones to me are 3 and 4. :)Thanks for all your hard work! :)

As I compare the 4 images above #3 looks very promising! You know about my meaning, I would love to be able to use "HyperReal" also with other maps, but if this isn't possible for which reason ever, I would really enjoy the update for RSS! It's definately in need!

WOW, talk about transformation, I see you cleaned the skin up quite a bit in #4. did you remove the darl fresnal spots for a reason? or what it just to fit in with Morris' texture?

Seeing that I'm just about to buy it, yes, looks like an incredible package and it's easy to see how this update improves things.

Yes please! Further excellent value (- I have both). Curious Labs -really- need to give you lots of money to include these in Poser 6! :-)

Yes, I would also be interested in the upgrade... though looking at the dates, it makes me wonder if I already have it.
