Description

Hi, for those of you that saw my demon beast image yesterday, here is the normal bump map test I did. On the left the medium poly beast is 6126 tris (about 7500 if you include gums/teeth/eyes). I wanted to learn how to use normal mapping so i did it on this demon beast, it seems to work pretty well. What do you think? Maybe a little bit of tweaking then on to unwrapping/texturing.

Hi Paul. The normal mapping looks great. Did u had to change the projection cage (or whatever it is called) by hand or was it all right in the first place. And do u know if u have to do normal mapping again once u do your unwrap? For the demon model: It has its balance now, good, and the face has more expression to it, great, but I still dont like the tail, sorry, it just looks like a giant slug or something. Its just probably me, so dont worry. Oh, one more think. On his back there are two some kind of folds of skin, I think, just below the horns. I think u should get rid of them, and do muscles, like the bodybuilders sort. Ok thats it. Sorry to be a pain. By the way, guys were mates, so dont think Im some asshole picking on poor guy. ;-) Cheers

Hi Artur, Cheers for the comments. the projection cage I didnt need to change for this render, but i did play around with 'pushing' it in/out to work out what does what. Yeah, as you know, ive tried different looks with the tail (with horns etc) and havnt been completely happy with the look of it. Im hoping that once it is finished and actually animated it will look right, i may still play around with the look of the tail and the back area that you mentioned. Cheers mate.
