Description

Hi! I would like to ask you for help! Please comment if this package design is good or not! Be honest! I design it for one of my clients. He did not choose this particular one saying it is kitsch and it is to common (in sense of art taste). He was also afraid that competition will be laughing. Well I like it ant way. What do YOU think??? PACKAGE INFO: Market: polish market; low-medium price fish, city people; Competition packages characteristic: 100% of packages of competition are generally blue circa 75% of them are dark blue, usually with drawn contour symbols of fish/sailor/fish boats. Package sort: Foil package for frozen fish (different kind of fish meat); Primary communicate: fine taste (in sense of food); Customization: glued label with fish info in front left-down corner; Front: transparent window in shape of a fish surrounded by

Listen: The problem of your package is: 1. Colour (Make more fresh blue, no brown) 2. Typography bigger, one line, gold or warm yellow (no outline, no blue) 3. Forget this ugly wood-board on the ground 4. More fresh water, sea, waves, may be a fishing boat in the back-fond What I like ist the description on the sketch paper. That looks naturell. Good luck.

Well, I am not Polish - but I think it's a very interesting design, and would catch my eye when I was shopping. I think the ideas above here (water, boats etc.) are a bit tired and cliched. The cutting board and the fruit and bright colors make me think of my kitchen and cooking, instead of how the fish was caught. You don't sell meat by showing the slaughter-house, why sell fish by showing the fishing boat? I also like the writing (recipes?) on the package, and the cut-out section so you can see what you're getting. I like it. But I American, not Polish :)

This one is difficult.. The design gives a feeling that this fish you buy really could have been cought by someone from poland and not from a ship somwhere in the Atlantic Ocean. I think, if you turn the red Label (100% smaku...) into blue it would look more fresh.. this would be a good compromise i think.

First of all, this is a good presentation (although I wonder if it wouldnt look better with an actual fish in it). Hmmm. Wish I hadnt read the first comments before examining your work I cant get blue out of my head and Im not sure I would have thought of that immediately. Now, that being said, I suspect the client would probably like blues and whites because they are pretty obvious. Most of the picky clients Ive had usually went for the obvious so you should try it (but remind him that hell just blend in with the competition if he does). Nevertheless, heres a few comments on this version. The vegetables are not consistent. Some of them (the peppers on the front) are VERY nice and shiny and well-lit. The tomatoes, lemons, and lettuce arent as nice, unfortunately. They are a bit unappetizing, and you use the same whole tomato too many times (just scaling it isnt enough to make it look different). Then you have the line-art cheese. All of these conflict at a subtle level, making it difficult to relate to it as a whole. The brown itself is probably too dark I dont hate the wood motif, but consider using a blonde ash or warm-colored wood. Also try to find wood with more character, and perhaps add a knife to reinforce the cutting board theme. On the back of the piece, I think the outline of Poland is the wrong color. A white or yellow line would look better (although this may change if you lighten the background). I kinda like the red top area (love that smaku!), but would continue it on the back of the package to make it more unified and interesting. Also, right now that is definitely the wrong shade of blue around the logo to use with this particular shade of brown. Again, if you go lighter and more yellow (but not the pine from your Relax with Tools piece thats too yellow) this could change and become more complementary. Finally, since you said one of the goals was to convey a sense that this was fine food, consider going a bit more upscale. Change the angle so that youre not looking straight down at the image and add a nice glass of wine and maybe some garlic cloves. Also, perhaps a fancy fork or knife? Something with a nice pattern on it might help make it look upscale. Whew. Well, thats a lot to think about, I know. Keep yer chin up, though you did a top-notch job and this is a VERY worthy effort. Also, if you post a follow up, please send me a message so I can look at the new work. Id love to see how this progresses.
