Description
This is an excavator working to clear out a coal pit to let the inlaoders and bulldozers do their work

It would be nice if those who are not familiar with this type of work could see the mountains and the danger involved. This is an excellent shot...very crisp. Thanks for sharing. Brings back memories. I wish I had a picture of this quality from the days when my hubby drove a dozer and side boom for the pipelines on those tall mountains! ;0)

a fine photo of the workings of a strip mine. pmh is right, there are certain dangers that go along with the nature of a strip mine, but when you have a good sup, he minimizes them by making sure all is safe as can be. there are less potential dangers involved in this operation than in a tunnel and shaft mine.

I love these shots. It is fun working right down with the hoe, marking his elevations.These things give a real sense of power.This one is well used. And they sometimes never make it back out of the excavation.Great shot!

wonderful shot!... reminds me of playing with the Tonka trucks as a kid, cept on a much bigger scale... (noticed how much clearer & bigger your photos are lately, whatever problems you were having have been worked out nicely! happy to see) :]

Gwyn...you're so right. have toured and shot in shaft mines on several occassions. wouldn't envy either group their jobs though. excellent work Vik! this is turning into quite a series. more!! ;-) love the new camera!
