Description

Just before the sun sets in the clear sky the reflecting brown bark of this scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) attracts my attention. It's in our advantage the freezing temperatures have cooled this mountain because the fens are usually not accessible, but now we can walk safely over the frozen fens to reach this tree. I hope you've enjoyed this entire Vosges-series (or parts of it) starting on December 23rd with Enlightened church (through Winter-conditions, Frozen pines, Clouds and cold, March of the Terra-Snowa Soldiers, Grand Ballon, Stained ice, Ballon d'Alsace) up to Leaving the Vosges. The series is made from December 27-29 in 1995 and with a shock I realize that's already nine years ago! Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 70 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

The way the sunlight catches the upper reaches of this pine is special. You must have really needed the future to venture so far in the mountains in 1995. Now, does the future agree with what you saw then? It seems it has taken a while to publish the prediction.

Wonderful composition, the sunset colours add a lovely warmth to a cold and otherwise stark scene. Bravo, well done indeed! V

shivers this image affects me on many levels. the rich, intense colors are magnificent, the lighting is awesome, but i feel like this is a capture of morning light instead of night. dunno why. As soon as i saw this one i knew that tree was special. what do i feel when i'm here? i feel a need to be quiet and to pray. I'm reminded of what Jesus Christ went through so we could be saved. i don't know who wrote this prayer, but i found it once and it's one i feel is fitting for this image: "Come Lord Jesus, cover me with your precious blood, and fill me with your Holy Spirit, I love you Jesus. I praise you Jesus. I thank you Jesus. I shall follow you every day of my life. Amen." ...a most special and beautiful image. here's a tree i would love to hug! vote!

1 year for a 2 years old child is half of his life, something incredibly long. 1 year for me is just a little bit more than a 1/40th of my life, something terribly short. Time runs at the same speed for everybody, regardless to how old we are but the WAY WE INTERPRET durations changes all the time. I know quite well this effect, everybody knows it, in French we say "je n'ai pas vu le temps passer"...
