Description
I have always been fond of "The Gift Of The Magi" by O Henry. For many years, it was presented on the radio at Christmas time. It has been years since I have heard a broadcast of it. Perhaps too many of the youngsters of today can not relate to the destitute conditions that so many lived through during the great depression of the 1930's, the Second World War and the reconstruction period after the end of the war. At least the text of the story is still available on-line for those interest in it.
This work is based on the spirit of that story. This shows the moment when they both first realize how much the other has sacrificed in order to provide a gift borne of their love for each other, leaving both gifts for the moment unusable because of their sacrifices.
Even though it was written as a Christmas story, I feel that it is even more a story love that is valid every day of the year.

This is the version that I meant to post. The foreground elements were rendered the wall in the background was added as part of the postwork. I created the shadow on the wall in a layer of its own. When the image was flattened, I did not notice that the layer with the shadow and the layer contining the correction for a rendering artifact were turned off. Resulting in the version that I had previously posted for part 1 lacked these elements. Paraphrasing a tagline: Make a postwork error and post it everywhere. Pangor
