Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

A very believable story about people who live and play on the river. I am quite timid toward rivers having gained my knowledge of ice and winter weather in a swamp with ditches and pools. Even then coming home with "soakers" was part of the year. The january thaw made the very edge near the bank detach and the ice would tip.

The crack on the left edge tells the story - be careful on the ice! Too bad about the pollution - I wondered why the ice looks so dark. Nicely done!

Hey, this image works great. The play off light of the shapes of the ice and water ripples is brilliant. I appreciate you risking your life to get this shot, but don't take too many chances my friend! ;)

Yes, I remember the river Lek was frozen completely back in 1985 and also in 1986. Huge ice mountains all over the.. what once was.. the river. This picture remembers me of that time.
