Description

The play of light on liquid water and frozen water fascinates me. The warm colors of the winter-sun and the frosty temperatures here contrast in a remarkable way. Somewhere under the ice the riverside marks the thin line between river and bank. But here it seems hidden so very well. Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 70 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

River ice is not as trustworthy as lake ice. The currents undermine the thickness. Open water masks it's edges. Even on a lake a spot of smooth clear ice must be avoided. This play of light trickles out the treats for the mountain climbers.

Mmm.. Can I see a pair of 'Rhine river monsters', sinuously making their way across the top of you photo, Jan-Carel? Cold, but magnificent. Regards, John.

you know it's funny, but i would have never thought that i would find brown muddy water beautiful. Amazing, but really this is truly gorgeous. You've taken something which i would probably consider unattractive and turned it into something wondrous to my eyes! and yep...that light fascinates me too! Outstanding photography!!! vote!
