Description

Between the end of World War II and up until around 1948, there was a shortage of new cars. My Uncle Ford, who was a Chevrolet man, considered himself lucky to have gotten a 1938 Chevrolet Sedan. It was in fairly decent shape for its age and by 1947 because of his own considerable mechanical skills. In the late spring of 1947, Ford, my grandmother, mother, and my twin brother, Steve, and I moved back to Kansas from Michigan. The house was a mess--and in fact everything about the place was run down. But that is another story for another time. After several months of living on the farm, my Uncle Ford announced that he would be bringing a new car home. Steve and I were very excited and, for the next few days, it was the constant topic of our conversations. When Ford finally drove up, the new car proved to be the same old Chevrolet with a bright new green paint job. Boy, were we disappointed! Steve was mad and I was very bumbed out. Ford thought it was a pretty good joke on us. So do I, but it took many years before I thought so. Credits: Poser 5 and Bryce 5: Twins: DAZ David figure with textures by MaskEdit. A great picture and a neat story about the new car. Makes me smile. Right about that same time Dad bought a 1936 green Plymouth. Fond memories.
