Description

Along the river we can see many different forms of ice. Like this little peninsula, a layered ice-sheet that exists on the balance between forming and disappearing. Isn't this the same with many things in our life? Changing conditions can have a great impact in our lives. How do we respond to all these changes? What foundation do we have in our lives? For me it's the Rock, Jesus Christ, but that doesn't mean I can't be shaken and torn apart. Just some considerations that came up in me thinking about this ice. The insistent pressing of the waters is interupted by winter' frgid choice of a solid form for water. Your reference to the rock, Peter, brings up the best time to walk on water is when it is frozen like the rock to avoid sinking spells. Then one wonders if ice is living water. A cock crows in the distance...

Nice meditation, Jan-Carel. Drawing back the point of view, this little ice sliver could be a glacial peninsula in the Antarctic, just about to break off into the ocean and cause a shipping hazard. If it was there would be a lot more below the water line, just like our lives. God sees all, and forgives us more than we do - thankfully. Regards, John.

Strange thing... It could go in Terragen gallery or in "fractal" category... If we keep the first half of your foundations and replace the second one by "ecology", we are the same... ;-)

So many analogies here - the brown, polluted river below becomes "white as snow" when it changes to ice. Just like the changes Christ makes in our lives when he forgives us! Excellent shot and great devotional for the day!

I love this one too, all the different levels and conditions! I know you don't have them there, but I'm waiting for the polar bear to appear!!!!! Great Capture!

Wow, a simple sheet of ice has led you to ponder some very deep thoughts my friend. :) Thanks for sharing them with us. I see another example of the grand scheme of things in this image. Instead of an ice flow, it could be a beach with small hills rising from the water. like a sandy shore, there is an ebb and flow, a forming and reforming. Great image and ponderings!!!!

Excellent capture, I like the bumpiness of dark water with its reflections, and translucent parts of ice

i love those blue ripples and how this image looks like an ice island!!! this image kinda bothers me a bit because it looks like there's blood in the water, as well as something floating under there. creepy. sorry i had morbid thoughts but this one makes me shiver. i can't help it. it really is beautiful. must be my strange mind. anyway, changing conditions DO greatly impact our lives. Yes, just because we have accepted Jesus Christ as our savior doesn't mean that we won't go through hard times. we will. everyone will. but in the end, we will prevail. we just have to follow heavenly lights. Fantastic capture of water and ice and it's great to hear how this image affected you personally. :)
