Description
Here's another oldie. This was done for the Lightwave Forum's first prized contest, then moderated by loganarts. The prize was a plug-in by Carl Merrit.
The concept for this piece was the end of an alien race, the two creatures are looking up at the sky where they can clearly see an approaching asteriod heading towards them.
Everything done in Lightwave, with texture and bump maps in Photoshop.

Great work here. The models so have a life of their own. The aliens look like a Ray harryhousen creation. Lots of good details the buildings are great too simple and don't draw away too much attention from your main characters there

I remember this one! :o) Thanks for reposting... a trip down memory lane. It still looks as fantastic as it did the first time. Askguden this was an alien civilization challenge, and the non-standard lighting was deliberate. :o)

Thanks for the comments people :) . The light is actually just one area light with ray traced shadows... The lighting is deliberate, I added "psuedo" rimlights on the torso of the nearest alien to simulate the way they light in comic books, notably Kevin Nowlan's work. :D It lifts the darkened areas and adds more detail...
