Description

This is my model of the Lunar Arms Corporation Heavy Scout All Terrain Vehicle, also nicknamed "The Ostrich". It's mainly a scouting vehicle, send ahead of the main battle force, even though it's not heavily armed, it can hold it's own. It features a number of different weapons, both anti-aircraft weaponry on the roof, light anti-panzer enregy-based weapons on the front, and "light" chainguns for faster targets at closer range. The armor is quite light, since speed is a necessity. A little more than 1.7 million polys in this baby. I'm gonna texture it when I retire ;-D It will probably take a while before I'm satisfied with the texturing for this one. Please let me know what you thinks. All comments and critics are welcome, happy rendering y'all!

Hi, input from a fellow Mech Builder here. You have a lot of great detail here and it is obviously a labor of love. The only thing I note is that the underslung gun has a rather spindly connection to the chassis. This means that in pics where the mech is in the distance these connecters are going to vanish into the back round. I would also think about some seams for the individual plates that comprise the chassis, you can do that with your texture, or with a displacement map. Over all it is top shelf!

Maybe you should do two versions, this one for close renders and a low-poly-only displacement mapped version for distant ones for those crowd scenes;-) The little clawed toes are (dare I say) adorable!

O.k., I am no Mech-Builder. I love this machine and I can't wait to see this beast in a battle scene. But I like machines in reality and I have one technical question: Has this machine a possibility to move a bit to the side after a body-check or something like that, because I can't recognize a side-hinge on his legs or feet to make balance. (But this is only a detail-question) Excellent work.
