Description
Thanks for all your great comments on yesterday's image, Dark Duck. Even if I can't find the time to reply, know that I read and value them all.
I had the urge to create an image that combined color and sepia, so I dug out a photo I shot of the beach at the Tulum ruins last February and started to play. I chose this image for it's vivid blue green ocean. The isolating of the land and vegetation was a bit tricky, but I think it turned out pretty well. Also, I wanted there to be a gradual transition as the water swept up the beach. NOTE: You can see distant breakers as the waves hit the treacherous reef along the coast.
Does the image work? You be the judge. I just wanted to try something different. And who knows, maybe there is a world where the land is drab and only the oceans pulse with color and life. There are infinite possibilities in this Multiverse of ours...
(Some of you have requested to see the original image, so here is a link to it. Tulum Beach The only postwork was sharpening when I reduced the image and slight saturation adjustments.)

TECHNICOLOR DEBUTS
Two-tone Technicolor is used for the first time on a general release film, Toll of the Sea, which debuted on this day in 1922. It was an adaptation of "La Boheme" staring Anna May Wong, and was a silent film. The process had been used on one other film, The Gulf Between, but the picture was not widely distributed.
The two-tone Technicolor process used two negatives, one with red tones, another with green, to create a color image. However, the process was too expensive for most studios, and most films remained black and white until the late 1930s.

Lovely composition and wonderful toning - I also great like the way the trees have been toned and all bend landward because of the prevailing winds. Bravo, well done!

The selection of this pic is cool and effect doesn't appear like one...... it somehow seems to be natural. (that was a compliment). Definitely a look at the real image would shine out the brilliance of the effect.;)

Split-toning is something I have not tried but after your post feel like I should give it a try sooner than later. I also like the one palm standing up against oceans wind as others submit. I feel it is the true message in his image. Your comments and technical information is greatly welcomed. Nice going Kort. V
