Description

Does it go up, down or along?

It always seems hard to tell!
This is actually a 20m high wooden ladder way in an old Welsh metal mine. It is made up of 4 sections standing on top of each other, it was put in over 60 years ago, which makes it interesting to climb - particularly when you reach the joins and find they don't quite line-up (hence the bent look)!!!

A terrifying shot -- can you imagine how many poor guys had to climb that day after day to make their living? Just this shot makes you realize the hardships miners face very minute under the earth.
