Description

THIS IS MY FIRST ORIGINAL TUTORIAL-FREE Project for Maya. :D This scene is a photorealistic representation of the front door/foyer area of my own home. All items in this scene are modeled after actual object that are in my home and either ARE or have previously been in this area of my home (the foyer). An actual photo of my front door/foyer can be found here: http://thebrbforums.com/uploads/post-9-1109464812.jpg This is a scene that took me the course of 6 days to make. It is in fact my VERY FIRST 3d work that I've done without a tutorial (previously, I started learning Maya on my own back in Nov. 2004 using various tutorials, so that's the only experience I've had prior. Before that, I've never done anything with CGI). Yes some of the item placement is a bit off compared to the original, but again, this is my VERY FIRST real project. And yes, this scene was lit with 100& LDRI, not HDRI... LDRI (if these terms confuse you, LDRI is exactly the same as HDRI, just, it's cheaper and easier). I made all the LDRI myself. :D NOTE: The photograph in the picture frame is a 3D scene done by a very close friend of mine, Ian Hubert, in the program Bryce. He gave my full permission and he's a really awesome guy. His original scene can be found here: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=659332&Start=1&Artist=Mrdodobird&ByArtist=Yes Thanks man. Also, for anyone interested, a thread that describes a bit more in detail how i did this scene can be found here (including the lighting and such): http://thebrbforums.com/index.php?showtopic=496 Any comments would be appreciated. Modeled in Maya, rendered with mental ray, and postwork was done in Photoshop CS

It looks great! Better than the original :) But pretty close the same place. Maybe the door is a bit dark, but I like it. Congrats!
