Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

Amazing shot!!! It's always interesting to me how many plants can live, in what we might think, to be an unlivable situation, and yet somehow they flourish!! Thanks for the info and beautiful photo!!!!

i notice the steam coming off those yellow rocks and wonder if they're hot? this image is a bit mysterious to me. the steam seems to have a ghostly shape floating in the air!! very interesting to see this sulfar bank!!! what kind of flowers are those that are growing here, Errol??? Excellent capture!!! Aloha!

Sheila, Yes some of the rocks are hot. Also, the plants in front are several types. Metrosideros polymorpha (Hawaiian:
ohi
a) Vaccinium reticulatum (Hawaiian: `ohelo) and some fern. The little tree in the middle will grow such as the larger tree's in the back ground. Those are Ohi'a trees and are great for firewood. They do have a beautiful red flower called Lehua flower. AlohaCosme..D..Churruca

Sometimes we miss the smells on a computer but here it's definitely an advantage! Wonderful to see how in nature plants can take advantage where others die!
