Description

The C-130A at the National Vigilance Park, Fort George G. Meade, MD This aircraft is painted with the markings and tail number of an RC-130 shot down over Soviet Armenia in 1957. The aircraft was lured over Soviet territory by radio beacons modified to mimic friendly stations. Gun camera photos of the shoot down are on display in the museum near the Vigilance Park.

Hats off to the brave women and men who stand between us and harm (and to their families as well). Great image and Tribute!

Dear Jo, Such a beautiful portrait of an elegant lady - the mighty, irrepresible C-130. Both this and the other two in your Vigilance series are most inspiring works. Very excellent - very stunning photography. Love, Meredith
