Description

Sulfur Crystals TwoPynts C'mon Errol, get a little closer, do some macro work! ;^P This is as close as I can get without stepping on the sulfur (sulpher) crystals. If you noticed from my other post, some plants appears to be thriving around the sulfur bank area. But as you get closer to these sulfur vents or grounds, many plants become stunted. Something is limiting their root growth. The more likely cause of this is the acidity of the soil and its environment. Temperature of the soil is another consideration. There were other areas to try a macro but the steam coming out would blur the lens. Aloha and thank you for viewing.

Sulfer stinks, I wouldnt want to get even this close, let alone a macro! This is kinda a macro, in terms of there being a lot of details. The sponge-looking rock and the crystals look really awesome, like you're on another planet lol. Excellent capture =)

Yea the stink can kill yea. :) Plus the water taste really bad. Friend lived in Still Water, Nv and Sulfer was everywhere. Nice thing was he got all his hot water from the ground to heat his home to keep the green house warm all year to grow things in. Plus the best was the big Bath house out back. Very hot water that we had to let cool about 10 hours before we could get in it. The place we called the end of the line because elec. and phone ended just passed his home.

Very nice detail on the sulphur deposited on the lava rock, makes a nice contrast to the untouched lava....Well done!

V* Somebody actually listens to me around here! ;^] You ARE the man Errol. Fabulous close-up -- closer than I thought you could get actually. I am suitabley impressed and touched by your "dedi." I will now and forever be the "rotten-egg" man around here, heh heh. Sorry it took so long to view this, I was away this weekend, dousing my camera in canal water. Superb photo, the detail is amazing...almost ice-like.
