Description

Pile of Rocks: In 1925, the first geothermal borehole into the volcano sulfur bank area was attempted. Steam experiments to tap power from the volcano for electricity was to be conducted by Thomas A. Jaggar. But those attempts failed and were abandoned because of the continual destruction of the drill tip. All that's left today is this pile of rocks to mark evidence of this early attempts. If you look at the left of these pile of rocks, you'll see a man-made base. Aloha and thank you for viewing

Remains of a failed attempt...In many ways I'm glad it did. The buildings and equipment associated with a Geo Thermal well is such a blight on the natural lanscape. Although supplemental power is always a welcome addition to out crappy power on this island..Great shot tho- Aloha to you!

With some cropping this could work excellent as a rock texture in my next 3D-scene. Excellent photo, crisp and clear!!!!
