Description

Lava Oozzzzing out: Standing on a lava mound, I could hear little popping sounds but wasn't sure where it came from. It sounded like it was right next to me. Then I saw the red lava oozing slowly out 30 ft before me. It was just luck that I stopped and not walk any further or I would be toast. I laid down my "Umbrella" and set up my tripod. Took many pictures as I could from this lava mound (didn't want to move an inch). I could feel intense heat as if I'm in an open oven. Feeling a little drained from the heat, I decided to pack up and leave, I had enough pictures. I attempted to pick up my umbrella and had to drop it. The handle was very very hot! I could see below me thru the lava cracks a red glow, lava was under me. Yikes! Aloha and thank you for viewing

That is some OOOZY lava. Some story too, you are indeed a brave man. I'm glad you made it out of there unscathed. And with some great photos too, if this is any indication. National Geographic, here we come! ;]

An umbrella? For the heat? For lava coming from heaven? LOL! Yeah, those things can absorb a lot of heat and you realized that by taking it! An incredible capture, verrry impressive! Thank you for sharing this exciting stroll!

jcv2..Yes an umbrella, lol. The day started out with a little rain. The umbrella became an important tool as I used it to probe the lava.....soft rock? hard rock? I just wasn't sure what to expect as I walked over the lava flow. Aloha
