Description

Hello, Just continuing on practicing with lighting & focus effects & hair painting in Photoshop with MistDragons fabulous hair construction kit. Also playing a bit with textures for clothing. I've tried to cheer myself up a bit by doing a slightly more upbeat render this time. Today I had to call out to a farm about 20KM from the town where I live. (Pt Lincoln, South Australia) Our community is recovering from recent bushfires which have been classed as some of the worst & most intense fires ever recorded in Australian history. 9 people lost their lives & over 50 homes were lost. I heard the story from the lady of their lucky escape from the fire with just the clothes on their back (of the 14 buildings on their property only 1 survived). Most of those that died were in their cars trying to escape the fire. Which at it's peak generated a 2000 degree fireball travelling at up to 120kms hr with winds up to 170KM per hour. Driving out through the heart of it today has hit me harder than I thought it would & my heart goes out to all those that lost their lives & their families. Thankyou for taking a look. Any comments you have time to leave are always greatly appreciated. Matt :-)

Lovely texture, and a nice reminder that there is beauty in the world, even when it has been burned black and charred. Such a terrible loss. Sorry you had to go into that situation. (are you a firefighter?) Hugs you you, Matt! Ish

Dear Matt, I am so dreadfully sorry to hear of the losses you have all suffered. Fires can be so devastating and affect so many. I hope that your community can draw upon its strength and heal. And I can understand your personal feelings as I too have walked the paths of recent destruction - to see what is there now with your eyes and to see what once was in your memory is always a soul wrnching experience. I'm glad that you took you mind away from that for a brief mental holiday to create this delightful girl in pink. I, of course, totally approve of the hair color! It's hard for me to stay serious for long - but then that is a survival trait - to be able to smile even in the worst of times. Godspeed to you and all that suffer with you. Love, Meredith

I remember listening to the news horrified especially one family who perished fleeing from their home and in the end their home was untouched. The earth will heal quickly the people wont. beautiful image Chris
