Description

Anyone familiar with Australian politics may recognise this guy.... This was an experimental render - playing with highlights. Interestingly, when I got the right side of the image (with lots of highlights) looking right, the left looked poor. So this is the compromise shot. The mesh under this guy is M3. He was twisted and turned, pulled and pushed - so much so that the texture fell off him in a couple of places (lips mainly, but tip of his nose a little too). The morph even includes lots of little things like eyelash work, thinning out this eyebrows, and giving him a double chin (not visible in this shot). Lots of work was done on highlights. These are a combination of bump map and specular node, and the relationship is quite sensitive. On a close-up portrait like this, a bump of 0.01 is right for the specular - but not deep enough so show his skin pores correctly. Up the bump to 0.02, and you get the right skin pores, but the specular goes off. Just gotta find the right settings... If I was doing one more render of this, I'd probably raise the main light a little to get the light out of his right nostril. I only used 2 lights in this render - proving what we all know - with FireFly, the more lights, the better the realism.

The master graces us with his presents again... fantastic render Paul, your crits of my images make more sense when you explain things like in this image. Just not sure of the stumble on his chin though, looks a bit wayward and painted on... as if I knew what I was talking about.... Excellent my friend... (VOTE)

Is it Tim or Peter? Looks like Peter. Fantastic realism, but I'm not convinced that such a McCarthistic scare-mongerer diserves the skill you can provide....

Now I must say, with tongue firmly in cheek, that this is just completely unbelievable. Peter Costello could never in his political life achieve such a complete lack of supercilious smirk unless the corners of his mouth were taped down ;-)

I like your experimenting around. The face you created is super and to come back to M3 is almost hard. but the picture opened to sides of my heart. Even though I am aware of how much work was involved in this, I consider his left face side outstamdimg but could not go with his right. Not because they are uneven, that is great, but the for the skin it looks like two people in one face. Since it is you, you know the work is excellent but not perfect, YET.

Okay, okay, so I gotta work even harder to try for realism if I ever hope to match this! Oh my, that's gonna be a long road for me to walk...sigh. This is amazing!

Awesome render, the eyes are very realistic and the "meshwork" you have done is perfect hard to realize this is M3. Excellent render :)

Extremely realistic, I can't believe this is Poser, looks more like something done in Maya or Lightwave or anything BUT Poser. Thank you for raising the bar & showing what is possible. I especially love the texture of the cheek & nose. Love that facial expression too!

I consider this your last render with handicapped software...lol. Let the good times roll with all that's about to happen and hopefully this fine render will become a curious memory...; )
