Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

This nicely illustrates the common saying, "A blanket of snow".

Excellent winter image! Brrrrrrrrr!

very nicely done !

Uncut! The melting that occurs due to pressure is not shown. Clearly the softening of the snow from sunlight on the top did not make the unlayment anywhere near 4 degrees C.

A new example of this discussion I started a few weks ago about the "infinite number of variations in the states of matter" I didn't think about snow but yes, it's definitely an excellent example! Great shot...

Splendid composition, a wonderful 'blanket' with superb texture; almost like a material cloud has draped itself gently upon the building. Well done!

Hehehe, wow, that's really something special! 70mm and such a wide-angle view? How did ya do that?

Wow, that is neat. I'm fascinated too! I also like your perspective in this photo, and the blues of the snow on the ground. Quite a shot!

Wow!!! this is fantastic capture, Jan-Carel!!!! It sure DOES look like that's a snow blanket covering roof so nicely!!! It is a bit worrisome though if the structures are so old. sure hope the roof will be able to withstand the pressure! Perspective of this is right on & i love the blue tones!!!!! Cool shot!
