Like a mixture of Poe and Lovecraft. I think its brilliant! You did great on the feathers and the woman's eye.

I keep thinking there should be a story that goes with this....very specific details, and beautifully done. :o)

what does the raven signify for you? it's in so many of your works... your inner self? strangled thoughts, strangled hope in the flowers, approaching spiders... makes one wonder & of course your painting & design skill are outstanding!! :]

Oh my gods! :-) I love that face! I think I've never seen anything like that - she's so incredibly expressive, and beautiful! Etheric, and strong; and just about starting to cry... The raven is so tragique; as the soul has been tried to be captured with beautiful chains - and afterwards we always know it's impossible. ---. You are a real master, Bev! Those thousands of stories included are conquering me, my heart my soul. As always your art is the air I breath, and deeply emotional - telling stories about MY life (too)... :-) The girl is losing her soul, but there is so much life in colours, and in details; and there is a spider reminding of past. The present is only a moment that has already gone. Tense will maybe stay - but we are living the future. Interesting.... there really is future present. This work of art is so much more than an image; it's life as it is. Thank you so much, Bev, for sharing your art with us! It gives so much to a viewer. huge hugs

hmmm.... alongtimejustsilence well- what shall i say? how shall i express what i feel... you already know some thoughts about it... no question... this moves me! quite a lot... the arrangement... the way you ordered those elements... like she's ordering her thoughts... but still - there are "unodered" points... symbolized by the spider... it's like she's looking in the future and everything else seems to be past... but still hanging... if it would be "past" it wouldn't be there anymore... well - yeah... i guess i'm thinking too much... but your pictures, dear bev... well, they force me to interprete... but be sure i like what they do in /with my brain... :) and again... this is a really brilliant picture.... they way YOU ordered the elements of the picture... the way you did draw the face... the strangled crow... awesome... :) faint i guess i need coffee now...!!! want some ;) thanks dear bev for this great picture... for this present... for this little big gem you set in my life... hugs

such a wonderful expression, I love your style it's different from other artists.....this shows a lot emotion, and yes the raven is a part of your life..also the spiders....but that's makes your art a bit more exclusive

Good god... again I feel utterly stumped for coming up with a decent comment! LOL! Again you're delving so deep into intuitive ambiguity that semantics feel pretty inadequate anyway! There's that dichotomy again which pervades your work, light and dark coexisting, in this case her largely emotionless expression while inside her mind is tying itself in knots. "Present Tense" is the perfect title, perhaps ironic in that she's almost not living in the present moment but flitting between past regrets and future worries. Umm... okay, maybe it didn't stump me so much after all, but whatever, words really can feel useless for doing your True Art justice! Thank you Bev, thank you so much hugest hugs :-)

This reminds me of memento mori ... or the dutch flower paintings, the kind of image that makes you step back and appreciate the fact that you are alive NOW and yet time is running out fast ... beautifully done.

I read the comments from others to find an interpretation of this image that I cannot disagree with. The look of contemplation on her face for me holds the whole image together making it easy to read in the other elements, another image that has made me stop and think, for which I thank you.

This touches me so deeply - I can only guess that it enters me at some subconscious level where cognition and language are not appropriate methods of communication. Thank you

Do you have a pet raven too?? LOL It's so nice that you have returned to 2D! And I won't write a long comment - just tell you that I surely won't solve this riddle. Perhaps it's not meant to be solved? But I like it when an image cannot be consumed within five seconds...

...your work is always worth waiting for ! --- and this one is an instant favourite! --- what strikes me first is the eye of the Raven --and then the twiny stuff that encircles his/her neck with attached flower- it's upturned gaze ( if such an eye can still 'see' in the conventional sense ) ---- then there's the girl/woman's introspective gaze .....those dangling spiders ( I think ) would love to see the detail on a bigger file size or print! --- those wispy little flower seeds that gently float and also look like sparkle highlights --- & that bigger arachnid that seems to be on a solid plane where empty textured space is indicated...... those gourgeous fluffed up feathers of the bird -- beautifully rendered ---- so much to see and feel with this one -- haven't even gotten into the emotional impact....but I need many more viewings to soak this one up......just a damn visual delight , Bev!

Beautifully disturbing, I love the symbolism of the hanging raven, a creature of momentum dangling! A symbol of our eternal rushing, only to find ourselves stagnet?? The daisies and the girl are also wonderful, both have a seemingly innocent quality, or maybe not?? The girl strikes me as an architect of pain, hiding behind perceived innocence

This is without a doubt the most awsome work of art I have seen in a long time. The second I saw it come into view I was extremely impressed. Stiring emotions, yes, but also this is a real work of art. I cant pick one particular thing to say is better than the whole. Just frigging fantastic.

A freshly new image and yet it has a strange old look. There's a sadness all over the painting, mainly in the girl's eye. Maybe I'm mistaken, but is the raven hung (to death) by that string? It's eye is closed and dry, as the raven was packed with straw within. The way the spiders walk freely on the scene, you could think they're not fearing any reaction from the girl or the raven, as they couldn't be any threat anymore (dead, maybe?). Flowers to the ones that've gone...
