Description
I called this a snapshot because it's more of a postcard than a photograph. I took this today on our walk and debated even posting it . We have had no wind and no rain for a few days and the smog shows in the picture unfortunately. However I wanted to show you more of the area in which we live. We are about 15 miles (a guess)from the US border and 30 miles east of Vancouver. That's Mt Baker in the background and it is in Washington State..and little over 10,000 ft. It's a dormant volcano and is a constant image in our landscape. The smog is pushed inland from the city by the on-shore winds from the Pacific and is caught up the valley by the mountains. In that regard we are like the LA basin only on a smaller scale. So this is a bad day to show you but try and imagine it without that brown haze. The ferry is free..it is part of our highway system and it runs back and forth between Fort Langley ( an original Hudson's Bay Company trading post and the first capitol of BC ) and Maple Ridge on the north side of the river.

Nice to view this Mountain from the north side, I'm on the south side viewing it from Washington State. If it were in LA, you wouldn't even see the mountain though, smogs that thick!! I have a couple of shots from this side in my gallery, if you'd care to look. Thanks for this shot!!! Akemi

Regardless of the smog, it's an excellent photo of the river and mountain. I live next door in Alberta.
