Description
This photograph is dedicated to Marco, the man I'm going to marry. This is how he makes me feel.
I thought I'd offer up the original colour version of my homepage picture ( please go take a look if you have a spare minute... I'm forever flipping back and forth between black and white and colour and can never decide which is better effect-wise ).
I wasn't going to pop this in my gallery... but a recent debate on postworking made me reconsider. I'm very much pro-postworking... I don't see it as "cheating", but more of an extension of the artistic vision. Poser artists are encouraged to postwork and praised on their skills, but for some reason this attitude isn't shared amongst all the communities. I make no judgements on this... all I have is an opinion.
Anyhoooo... this has prompted me to post this image as it is the least postworked of all the trilogy ( approx. 3 minutes.. adjusting contrast etc ). I hope you like it :o)

BTW... can anyone offer a suggestion as to a good quality digital camera for a newbie that isn't going to force me to put my major organs up for sale on the black market?

Hi Michelle...this is a luvly...sensitive portrait...the progression from high contrast to deep shado is very intriguing. Best thing to do as far as digital cams is concerned is decide how much you want to spend and then go looking at the reviews of cams in that pricerange. There is a zillion of them out there and all of them have different features and produce acceptable images. Personally I haven't had a whole lot of luck with the more inexpensive zoom cameras...but the fixed lens olympus makes really nice photos.

A simply stunning portrait of yourself. Your eyes emit a soft and tranquil quality that draw the observer deep into the picture and entice them to look around. A excellent capture thank you for sharing ;0)

AMEN SISTER! What you say about the postworking is so true. Another image of yours that is quite good- I especislly like the transition of how you go from having the glow on the face to normal lighting on the shoulders to shadow... but yet you still see vivid blue on tha background. Another impressive (& dreamy) portrait!

purity & pw is a longtime discussion, pw is certainly welcome here in the photo gallery, there's a lot that can be done in the chemical darkroom, digital is just less mess... you can get good feedback in the photo forum on cams, in fact, one was just posted recently on suggestions for a new cam you can look at... as for your photo... i luv the color but the b&w version doesn't show the high key burned out highlights as much, a lovely expression in the eyes :]

I believe in postworking until the image no longer resembles a photograph..(For gallery purposes only.)Your mood in both B&W is special and colour seems to bring out more feeling. The tones the camera and adjustments made are soft and effective. In the Photography forum you can post your inquiry as to a camera, and there will be many responses to choose from.
