He say no way and she say she tell and the governor let the prisoner go. Now everyone know the Marie Laveau was the most powerful person in Louisana and every one went to her and she was the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. this is was I understand of the story. I love The woman behind the legend of Marie Laveau, she had many children and was intimidating to folks who believed in hoodoo and such. That's what I was told and read. The idea of a woman of her times having any power or smart enough to gain any respect or attention at a time when women of color and women Period were opressed..makes me respect her very much. I'm quite proud of her actually.

I have heard of Marie Laveau, as well. They say that people still go to her grave with gifts, thinking that she will favor them. This woman is a good personification of her! That guy in the background I have seen before in your pictures. Now HE is a little SCARY! lol.

Intriguing image and story! I really like how she is accentuated with color against a relatively desaturated background

Gesture as stored in the belly laughs wholeheartedly. It lauds the human origin of power.

My understanding is the woman voodoo worker in the "Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil" book was based on her- great one Jock.

Very expressive color, it almost looks like a traditional tinting job, but on closer inspection it's not, wonderful color choices!
