Description
Still in the abandoned Welsh slate mine of previous postings, moving on from the chamber with the winch, in the adjacent chamber is the remains of an old crane and this boiler. The boiler was used to provide steam for a water pump in a deep chamber (now flooded to this level) off to the left of the camera.
The boiler is about 10ft. high (3m) and the smoke was taken through an iron pipe from the top, then through ceramic pipes up to the surface on the hillside about 100 feet (30m) above this level.
I would have liked to have someone in picture for scale, but was on my own at this point, running around doing the mutiple flashes! The other problem I had was the wall to the right of the boiler burning out, while other walls where too dark!!

The lighting is effective - light and dark walls work here. The boiler is beautifully rusted.

Hehe I can see you running around with the flash to get the image that wall was whiter so refelected more light I guess.. again you did a superb job to get this
