There is a genuine darkness to your work that is otherwise quite rare on Renderosity. And once again a certain magical "how do you do that?"

A very clear message that this disfigurement is to metaphor as presumed form is to unexpressed transition. After mentally processing the image, we (the audience) are left to pleasantly wonder what is the final stage and why this individual is so driven. It is unmistakeable that this transformation is self induced. I don't think I can critique this without attacking the vital ideas behind this. Adding texture would destroy the dolphin-like quality and more colors would disrupt it's unity. I am a bit bothered by the low position of the tail but it's just my preference.

So soft, the textures! Great lighting and fascinating distortions! I see some kind of alien with wings here!

Your "metamorphosis" style often reminds me of Japanese comic book artist Hideshi Hino, who always favours deformed characters for one reason or another. Your style is more photographic and sculptural and less gory than Hino's, so I guess your motivations differ. Hino says: I tried to draw beauty out of deformity. I wanted to show how cruel and vulgar humans could be. My characters are ugly, but I wanted readers to understand that even these ugly characters have lives of their own... Anyway, returning to your pic, I do admire the lighting, always a strong point in your work, and the composition and muted colouration is perfect.

I keep coming back to this & just staring at a loss for words! The sharp contrasts & edges against the muted colours & more subtle tonal range create such a vision of both the pain & beauty of self transformation to my eyes, your abstraction of the human form will never fail to fascinate me Jim & I really love this one!

Love the sculptural quality of this, and the lighting and contrasts .. gorgeous, makes me think of life in motion rather than a snap shot, darker feelings ...

I am deeply fascinated by the color scheme Jim. The overall quality of this composition is IMHO museum quality... like so very many other images of yours. Brilliant work once again man. Hats off to ya.

Mmmmm chemicals :D Whenever I look at this style of yours I find it simultaneously attractive and repulsive and this one inparticular is a new mutated species, its deformations' functions something to be studied and admired whilst my skin crawls shudders Great work my friend, I never ever tire of your unique style hugs

Could be a horse's tail I guess... it reminded me of a fish's dorsal fin, hence the title ;-)

hey - i missed that... how could that happen...?!? wonders that's well... missing words like there are missing "parts" in the pic... looks a bit like a statue... like some surrealistic existance... somwhere between transparency and melting... - i know i'm rambling around here... but - well - too many different thoughts in my mind while watching...

Catching up with your gallery Jim, I do like this the light is wonderful gives it a real sense of mood I also like the suggestion of skeleton in the arm in contrast to the softness in the rest of the image.
