Born 1974, UK
I like ambiguity in art. Uncertainty. What has to conform to the limits of our reality? Metal, glass and flesh can merge seamlessly, as if the surreal worlds and the life forms within are one and the same, and yet at odds sometimes. I rarely seek to endow my works with any "message". I am more interested in people's personal responses.
I'm a multimedia artist working in fine art (including sculpture), digital art, graphic design and various forms inbetween, also illustrating book covers and numerous CD covers. I also work in musical soundscaping, both solo and in group projects, of which there are many releases. I'd like to say a big thanks to everyone here who has supported me in my work and beyond since I began posting in June 2001. Too many to mention, you all know who you are... I'm meeting very special people here :-)
Update 01-08-05: I've been given a 4 page feature article in Issue 3 of the new media magazine Contour based in Atlanta, Georgia. The images printed very well and they did me proud.
Update 21-03-06: I've been spending the last 6 months living in New South Wales, Australia. Inspiring place! Also in the process of illustrating the book covers for a series of Japanese books called Hikishio no Toki (Time of the Ebb Tide) by Mayumura Taku - to date I've completed the first two of the five volumes. I've recently been returning to traditional media as well as producing the usual digital art, and contributed a sculptural canvas to a recent local exhibition. Link: Saatchi Gallery webspace
Update 09-01-21: I hadn't even logged in for some years. It's weird nipping back here after not even posting for 13 years, like revisiting your old school incognito. As I'm not active here anymore I wonder if anyone will even see this again besides me.

Used to the manipulated version, and the impression of ruddy stone work, this "naked" version seems a lot more difficult to relate to the real world. This seems more like the manipulation! Must try this myself, sometime :-)

I can appreciate the postworked version much better after seeing the original. You did amazing work in the postworked version. I love to see the orginal and final versions. They are educational, in addition to being a real pleasure to view. Excellent art work in all.

I like this a lot. It has depth, in thoughts and in expression. I can see therepeople, dolphins, sea, forest... maybe it's the colour that takes me to nature. I appreciate all these variations of Behemoth - but this one is touching; it's kind of mother of so many of works of you, and I don't mean only manipulated Behemoths :-) Thanks, Jim, for showing us this one too! :-D

Really awesome, Jim! Looks like some bizzare creature from the depths of ocean. Nice work buddy!

Very interresting to se the original. You maybe remember that I loved the two first details you posted. That choise remains, but this is awesome too, like an old sea creature. Great to see what you can do with old works!!

I really like this naked version, somehow more than the postworked one...even if I do see an octopus, and they give me the heabies L Beautiful, calming greens, almost serene in contrast to the postworked version. hugest hugs Thank you so much for creating and sharing all that you do :D

It's quite fascinating to compare & see where this lead you with the postwork, they are so very different! I do like the postworked version very much & couldn't choose between them but I love the feeling of spontaneity this has, the life forms almost seem to be emerging before my eyes! Great work Jim ; )

Well, u know what! I definitely prefer this version over the postworked one! Totally! This looks like some kind of strange underwater creature and I find it quite fascinating! Yep!

...well -- I think I prefer the detail # one most of all --- and perhaps this original the least -- though it is intriguing in it's own way --- looks like a duckbilled dinosaur in primeval green - with birdshit droppings overtop ---- anyway , Jim -- lol! -- that's just how it hits me ---- but detail # one pulls me in and is still fascinating!
Synapse
That's okay, I find it hard not to think about birdshit myself ;-)

Strange and beautiful, I really like the tones and colours on this one and the effects work is amazing.

hey - you should again do those "birdshit things" lol no - i reall ylike this one too - it's quite interesting from the colors! there's definitely something about this "cold" green and the black and white structures... i like it... well done... ;) and i would look forward if you'd do some more "experiment" with natural media...

Even in this you can find shapes and forms, the eye of course always triggers the imagination.
