Description

Looking up we see the sun shining on the snow-covered edges of the Axalphorn, some 600 m (2000 ft) above us. The overhanging snowsheet makes me aware how dangerous it is to walk close to the edge up there; you might sink through the snow and have the air-ride of your life.... But looking up from here all is safe. I like the play of the sunlight. It's almost as if the snow is a bit translucent, but it's just reflected light. And now, let's go down sledding more than 1000 meters down! Sledges are waiting for you, complete with butt-warmers! Wheeeeeeee! ~~~ Happy Easter to you all! ~~~ Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 70 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

Heat and cold from radiation and convection toss our feets impressions deep below us to the face of the cliff. It takes a moment to release the awe before going down.

Very beautiful. I would like to sled down but of a lesser steepness, lol. Thanks for this information about the snow might be loose causing a landslide. I never thought of that on our mountains in Hawaii but it could happen. Something to think about for me. Aloha
