I never find the time to do everything, but love the things I do. Very easy to make friends with and never judge people by what others have said, as I am capable of finding out for myself.BIOBorn in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK. Was lousy at school and taught myself later on in life. Suffered a long illness in childhood and was constantly bullied on my return to school and so glad when I left. First ever job was making cricket bats and hockey sticks.
My interests have changed through life but are all art orientated. I can draw a little but don't bother much now only on the computer. Retired early due to redundancy and have no desire to start again. Live more comfortable than most in this sorry world, though I do sponsor third world children. My lot has not always been a happy one, but I am so grateful for what I have. I know a lot of people who I love and they love me in return, what more could a man ask.
The photograph is years old and was taken by my Aunt who is now in her 86th year. I have kept my hair although it has gone from blonde to grey. The rest of me is not in bad condition although I have gained a little weight due to inactivity with a broken ankle. I am hoping for some decent weather so that I can cycle the countryside once again. Best wishes, Dave - 12th April 2005
23rd June 2005 - I have just removed my favourite artists list, not out of malice it's just to stop the dreaded ebots :) I had a lot more favourites than was listed anyway so it was not up-to-date. I love you all but I must devote time to my wife who is not mobile anymore and needs my help. I may stop by from time to time, but if not I still think of you all. Yours sincerely, Dave

I will do my very best to answer Chris, however this may be my last posting. I am deeply offended by the insensitive remarks made by RedundantlyAbundant and I am afraid I lowered myself to his level when defending the rights of the absolute amateur. I have lots of so called crap from my early days and proud of it. And furthermore if some people want to make a contest out of it, so what, who cares. I do not want to make enemies and wish to apologise to everyone for my outburst. Here goes. Key: left to right top, then left to right bottom. Montage #1 Fungi - Bramble - Lichen - Cactus Montage #2 Aconite/Monkshood - Catharanthus/Vinca/Periwinkle - Nastursum - Galanthus/Snowdrop Montage #3 Willow Catkin - Narcissus/Daffodil - Eschscholzia californica (Papaveraceae)/California Poppy - Prunus/Ornamental Cherry

Beautiful flowers. I hope you will go on posting photos because I love them very much even if I've not always the time or the mood to put comments. Don't mind about some remarks. Like you I'm an amateur and I think we are your place in RR.

I respect that you told me to stick it where the sun don't shine. I am not against the amateurs - I am against the ones who are stagnant - who's photography is hopelessly terrible. I have seen many artists here blossom and it is a beautiful thing. I do regret my remarks last night...it was insensitive but there is truth. Maybe your definition of crap is boader than mine...please don't martyr yourself for the sake of the amateurs. Regardless, this is a beautful presentation of flowers.

Yep, four stunning shots Dave....a beautiful presentation too :)

we're a tempermental bunch... don't take what you read to heart... these are lovely... nothing wrong with shooting flowers... they're a popular subject! :]

Some flowers are walked over by feet, other by tanks. The effect is the same, delicate flowers are hit in their blooming time. But... nature is resilient and even heavily bent stems still find ways to let their flowers bloom sometimes! There are always those who know to handle delicate objects and those who do not know how to do that. Be assured your work IS good and the comments you received (besides a single one here and there...) emphasize the quality of your work. Don't let the sting of one bee let you move to another house. Perhaps the flowers are not crisp here but 1) you SAW them 2) you SHOT them and 3) you POSTED them! Kinda veni vidi vici and it works great! Your collage IS beautiful!!!

Don't let the idiots who come into forums and ruin it for others make you leave Esca. If that were the case I'd have left quite a few sites by now. LOL You have some beautiful images. Makes me want to go over there and take some pics now. Just no cash to visit the far side of the pond. :D
