Description

Not far from where we were "Playing with Lava" , we ran across another stopper for us. A fast moving flow of lava coming out of a hole. In picture #1, the front or leading part of the lava was moving about a foot per minute. But the back side (center and right), the red lava river was moving quite fast as if someone had turned on a water hose. I had set up my camera and tripod on higher grounds about 50 feet away. In the mean time, Terry had ran towards the lava river. I got off 2 shots (pic #1 and#2) before Terry started yelling at me to "Come On Down". And so I went down and took my first close up of this flow (picture #3). More hair loss on our legs. More to come. Aloha and thank you for viewing.

These are amazing-I keep seeing different images every time I look at them. Call me crazy but I see a red-eyed wolf's head in the first photo and a large tortise in the third. Oh my God,now I can see a man standing in the second photo. ;0)

I've been meaning to ask, sharky, does the lava flow make a noise? I imagine it crackles like a slow fire or tinkles like breaking glass. whatever, I doubt I would ever get that close, better you than me. 8-O

At Terry's knee level, you can see a little red on the right side of this picture and whole lava mass is moving left. Aloha

LoneyBones, you will hear crackles and tingles like breaking glass but only because the new lava is pushing the old brittle lava surface in front of it. You will also hear popping sounds probably because of trapped air heated up, expands and then pops. Thanks for asking. Aloha
