Description

This is something I knocked up a day or two after making my image for last month's 2D forum theme. It wasn't intended for the theme as it was really just a rerun of the style, simply experimentation - it hasn't really gone anywhere and I didn't take it further, but I quite like it :-) The textures date back to mid-1997 experiments with acrylics and inks - the central circles were literally circular labels coloured with felt-tipped pens. A heavy sepia tint was added in Photoshop as the original colours were quite garish blues and reds - despite the rough textures I wanted a calm feeling here. Thank you for taking a look and your feedback is much appreciated :-)

oh - wow - some more of your great textures visible here! i appreciate to see those... well done... i mostly like the subtle disorder you put in here... enven though the textures don't have an order in any way... the geometric appearance has a quite dominant order... it's funny but what makes me thing of "dis-order" here are the two different colors you used for the inner circles... i personally would have played with the white dots too... but that's just what comes into my mind... anyway i really like to see that... it' calming for me... thanks :)

wow from me too! The textures are really nice, truly tactile & the sepia does lend a very calming, organic & natural feeling to this, I think your use of symmetry also tends toward that kind of calm mood too but your use of design & texture always keeps the image fluid. Those inner circles are making my eyes jump about a bit, that makes for interesting viewing lol! Great work again my friend ; )

Wow from here too, I like this very much, more than your first one for the order theme. The textures are awesome and I like the contrast between forground and background, the circles are floating like UFO's over a landscape.

Should I say wow too? L Chocolate/caramel doughnuts floating in a sea of milk, or maybe you left some CDs out in the elements before setting them into a plaster wall. :) Great abstract my friend hugest hugs Thank you as always for creating and sharing :)

I can't see discs like this without interpreting them as CDs. In this case they seem to be reflecting a cave wall lit from low down. Another example of seductive packaging for another music project! (ps. Wow!)

More I look this, more I see there a pair; a pair of eyes, or breasts, or why not cd's or doughnuts :-) This looks somehow sensual... maybe the delicious colours make it. Symmetry is difficult to make lively, but you know how to do it. I like this pair of interactive pieces rotating peacefully and changing the textures slowly. :-)

I really like this but I can really explain why! The first thing I thought of when I saw this was that it looks like 2 huge eyes! A funny pair of eyes, like in cartoon characters! I think this is a great design even though I have no idea what it could be used for! ;)

You accomplished your goal of a calm feeling beautifully. It is a peaceful image that exudes harmony & warmth to me, rather than "discarded order". I think the earthy color, contrasts, and the simplicity of the design have a lot to do with creating the effects I see and feel. This is a great graphic design, and I can see it in ad work or an album cover very easily (Digital Country). It has a quality that draws you into it & curiosity holds one's attention. The textures are superb & my minds eye sees the discs reflecting their surroundings, obviously outdoors, part of the curiosity factor. Excellent +++ artwork! Of course what I see is just one person's vision. (I've written this without reading the other comments first, so now I will see how well I gel with the others.) :)

what a wonderful combination of colour and graphic style Jim!! Would look great from being on a wall as work of art or as a backdrop in a web page quite unique!
