Description

This will be the last of the series from this abandoned Welsh Slate mine - might come up to surface for some air 8)
This pillar in the first underground chamber that you get to looks to have been where the miners tested their drills, it was riddled with holes! (This is a detail of a small area of the pillar.)
After drills have been resharpened miners liked to do a quick test of them to check that they are sharp, and hardened correctly - too hard the tips shatter, too soft and they blunt quickly.
I have seen areas like this in other mines, but here the texture and colours, coupled with the old metal spike drew my attention .....
I know someone is going to have rude thoughts about this one ... but try to resist!

What I like about this image is the abstact quality of it, along with the varied textures one can discover in the slate. Apart from also giving us the necessary information to understand what it is we are looking at, I appriciate the composition of the image and its artistic interpretation. :~) EXCELLENT!

This has been a very interesting serie, even though i commented only on some of them,i have seen and appreciated them all,and i'm sure glad that you've uncover all those buried tresors underground ! Without you, it would have been lots probably forever, but thanks to your great talent as photographer, your determination and hard work, and also courage to go places where most of us would'nt dare to go!Those images have been exposed for all of us to see! I bet that you're looking forward to come up for a bit of fresh air now! :) Looking also forward to see some of your new materials!I hope that i've redeemed myself now,and made up for the lost time! :) Thanks for the show!It has been a blast!!!
