Description

Terry Pose with Lava: In picture #1, I told Terry to stand before the oncoming lava and I'll take a picture of him. When you're trying to take a picture and the element of danger is there, you tend to make mistakes rushing (my fault). When you standing before the oncoming lava and the heat is intense, you tend to move a little (Terry's fault). After I took this picture and Terry jumped away, I told Terry that my automatic focus was not turned on. We had to redo the picture again. In picture #2, I had my camera all set! Ok Terry, lets do it again. Lets get it right! Terry stood there for posing, I adjust my zoom, leveled my camera and said hold still. Just as I snapped the shot, Terry jumped forward and wave me off. Oh no! He moved again! The heat was too intense for him and I took to long. Sorry Terry but lets try it again. In picture #3, we are trying it again. Terry stands there and I adjust the camera again trying to get this mass of lava moving towards Terry. The heat is very intense. Terry gets off a wave for everyone and "Click"! Got it! Just to note, lava came gushing out on the right of this picture. Lucky Terry........... On our return, everyone would stop us to ask questions. We told them there is much danger out there. But if they dare venture into the lava field like we did, look for the heat waves (not the smoke), look between the lava cracks, probe everything in front of you, beware of the fumes and watch your step. We were very happy to talk to anyone about our experience walking over lava. So our story ends here but I will be posting some left over lava shots. This post is dedicated to Terry, a brave and tough retired marine who isn't afraid of anything. Aloha and thank you for viewing.

Brave Terry! I would classify walking on a lava field as being a little insane :) the photo's are great, but you'd have to pay me serious money to take Terry's place :)
