Description
Murali huddled in the corner of one of the Order of the Trinity's high tower walls for warmth, his breath came in puffs of white clouds that hung in the air for a second then drifted up and over the wall. He hated this shift, it was always so cold, so dead, he looked out across the great white sea of the morning fog that came on relentlessly everyday. He hated the fog, hated the way it seemed to get everywhere, its dampness finding every hole, every opening of his clothing and makeing him misserable throughout. He idly wondered why they even bothered sending guards up anymore, the Trinity's power had never been challenged, surly only a fool would try such a thing. He heard a dull rythmic thud coming his way, he peeked around his corner and down one of the walls long passageways, he saw a globe of light approaching him, he silently thanked god that his shift was finaly over. The figure approached from the mist like a wraith, its upper half was lit by a guttering torch, its legs fadeing into non existance in the great white monster. He stayed huddled in the corner as the figure slowly made its way to his tower, and climbed up the stairs to look at him, pathetic and miserable cowering in the corner soaked to the bone by the damp in the air. They nodded knowingly to eachother. Murali rose, the cold air hit him like a hammer, he shivered convusivly as his eyes scanned where he thought the horizon was in the fog, the hills of the land riseing like islands out of the white sea. He started walking towards his replacement, but his gaze turned and fixed on the barracks not so far away, where his warm bed and sweet dreams awaited him. He reached for the torch, but in response, he heared the clang of iron hiting stone and a slight gasp escape his companion. Murali swiftly turned his gaze to where the guard stared, pointing, at the glowing line of torch's that came up and down one of the islands of land in the mist, seemeing never to end the torch's came and went, they both stared dumbly for a second, then Murali acted raceing for the alarm horn and blowing with all his might. Other horns sounded in response from across the trinity's walls, ghostly figures started to drowsily emerge from buildings, Murali had done all he could, the alarm was out, the enemy he thought would have never come, had arrived.
