Oohooohhoooh!!! I can just picture that top one, under the influence of a full moon. What a spectacular scene that would be, with those many different looking gravestones and that tall grass. OOOoooh SPOOOOKY even!!! You gotta do that someday!!! PROMISE!!! Excellent and educational as always! Have a great one!!!! #:o)

What terrible bad luck this church site has had! The church is so quaint and I love the texture of the stone. Going by the headstones it looks like some of them are quite recent? A what a beautiful cross. Thanks for sharing these beautiful images and a piece of history. Noeline

Oh, my gosh ... this photo is absolutely gorgeous! It caught my attention while scanning all the thumbnails on the page and came right here. Last Sunday I photographed a sweet church a bit similar to this, but it was so large, I couldn't get it all in the lens with the one I had with me; so took some shots of the graveyard. Ancient stones were there .. very interesting. I love this photo... totally.!

The top picture is really excellent. It would have probably been better without the graves but it's difficult to avoid them when you want to shot a village church. Compliments!

What a magnificnet church and equally magnificent compositions. What horrible luck this church has had - perhaps after your visit and documentation its luck will change :-) Well done!

A most fascinating tale. I noticed the spire is made totally of stone which I believe is unusual. Great shot, great series.

Good grief!! As soon as you started your story I had a flashback to childhood & I knew you were going to say Flixborough. That event had a massive effect psychologically at the time, even though I was only 6 years old & miles away. It made me think all industry is bad. I remember there was an ICI factory where my Grandma used to live in Beeston Rylands & I always asked Dad to drive the long way round. I had forgotten all that until know. Amazing thing, the human brain!!

one is tempted to say that some people cannot take a hint - then I read Steve's (tommorules) comment and it isn't quite so funny.
