After a while you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn
that love doesn't mean leaning
and company doesn't always mean security
and you begin to learn
that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of woman, not the grief of a child
and you learn
to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow's ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down
in mid-flight
after a while you learn
that even sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone
to bring you flowers
and you learn that you really can endure
you really are strong
you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn
with every goodbye, you learn...

I have always loved the wind that picks up before a storm. The quietness in the air streaked with an electricity, warning of the coming excitement. Hey Leah this is cool, and I like it very much. Your work I find grows with each new post, keep em coming ;0)

N, I like walking beside you, as we traverse the path. I am wondering why you feel the need to qualify and to further explain this piece. It clearly stands on it own. Grab onto the faith and KNOW! that I(the reader), possess the capacity to not require more. Furthermore, if I(the reader), miss the mark, then 'That's all it means'. Which-a-way...?? That-a-way??, okay, let's go! D

Excellent piece. To me the wind is like any other force or energy on Earth. If handled correctly, it can make a ship sail fast. If not handled well, it can throw someone off course. If that makes sense? WINK. My best. Keep writing. T.P.

The "wind" most certainly can feel like this, yet dear NothingNess, you have the right, and should if it to often feels as such, take shelter from it. This does not mean climb inside your self or that you're weak if you do Yet go where this "unmerciful wind" is not when it has it fits that hurt you. As in this bit of writing, it seems to hurt you greatly. Get out of its pathdon't allow it to treat you as such. You owe it to yourself. In order to have true respect for the wind and its mighty existence, we also must have respect for ourselves and realize we too have a mighty powerthe power of choice. To either stand in its wake or take shelter, if and when we must as not to allow it the pleasure of harming us when its unforgiving thrashings come a whistling its rage our way. Excellent writing and thank you for sharing.
