Description

- Scotland, Isle of Skye - In the northern part of Skye you often will find such rock formations called "kilt rocks". Columnar jointing or structure result from the lava or magma cooling and shrinking in a smaller volume. If the magma cools slowly and regularly, the centers of shrinkage are equally spaced. Similarly, in a kilt, the pleats are folded nearly and set equally apart. Thanks for your interest and all welcome comments! Have a stressless day! ;o)))

The rock looks a bit fragile... wouldn't fancy attempting to climb it. Lovely vibrant colours. You've really brought out the texture of the rock in this pic. Very nice.

Great colours and composition, nice rocks but not sure I can see the similarity to a kilt but then I haven't been drinking any famous Scottish 'water' to help my vision 8-)

I may not be the first to comment because I finaly managed to get 10 hours of sleep compared to only 4 or less because of photography. Yet on the other hand, I get to read what everyone else has thought, and that has value too. What strikes me in this photograph is that most of your work Rits, is horizontal. Verticle makes for stronger impact than a pastoral horizontal. so I am exceited to see jumping out at me a verticle photograph. I also appriciate the the history of any notes regarding what is being shown as it permits one to enjoy the image even more.

Egmont's catching up on sleep has led to some good observations and I agree. I love the verticle format for this. The frame is interesting but I'm not sure if this great shot needs any help. The focus should be the rock face. Wonderful details and colors captured here, and thanks for the trivia!
