Description

Another attempt at photography. Kodak easyshare 330 dx ~( dosnt always work it was dropped lol) a few filters and postwork and then made the frame myself in paintshop 7 with the paint tools and smudge! I had a hard time getting this one up as my computer refused to take anymore uploads... took me 3 days of playing with my computer to do it.. I am getting a new commputer rebuilt, but it won't be ready until mid-may. Hopefully by then, I will have a new camera as well . I love Olympus but I am told Nikon and Canon are good as well, imput on the make would be helpful and appreciated..! I took this swan was taken a week ago . I saw him (or her) far off and waited pateintly for him to come closer , he seemed a bit skiddish as many kids were playing nearby. Finally, I went to the car and got some chips and this one sailed over to me gracefully think he was hungry!.. so, I kneeled down and caught him up close with wings up , with this curious glance as to what sort of food I held in my hand. I know there has been many swan pictures on here and this is not too origanal , but it is special to me cause I had never been so close to a swan in my life. and then theres a story behind it personally. When I see a swan I think of the story of the "Ugly duckling", my Mother used to read me the story by Anderson, I always loved it. When I was a little girl I was chubby and made fun of and didn't have many friends. SO I would sit alone at school lunches and draw and daydream and that always would make me happier.. In the summer of 8th grade I had a sudden growth spurt to five foot seven from five feet and the weight suddenly came off and my hair grew and no one knew who I was when I came back to school . I had exercised rollerskating and it payed off. I didn't understand why all of a sudden people liked me. I am glad for the experiance because i judge by what is in the inside from being rejected for years.. just thought of this when I took the picture you see here and thought I would share it with you! LOL I am older now and do not consider myself by any means a swan , but its more of a relation of an experiance what I went through at an early age... Thank you for your time and comments, I have been blown away by all your love and suppoert on here.. (forgive me again for being behind again on comments as my compt crashes every 10-15 minutes then takes another 10-15 to get back up again.) Have a great day or night ~whatever it is there! ♥ ~Kimmers!

this is a fine capture Kimmers of a very beautiful swan. I use Fujis7000 which I love but when I get a new one it will be a Canon professional model, but waiting on money which is scarce as hens teeth

I think those who made fun of you when you were little are biting their fingers off at this moment. You are a Swan and a remarkable artist. Excellent capture and story. Aloha

it's beautiful, Kimmers!!!oh...look at the expression on its face!!! luv the water...the deep colors and ripples! and i really like how you capture him flappin' his wings oh so gracefully! i can relate to what you were talkin' about. i was a chubby kid and always verrrry shy. and i had...er...HAVE frog eyes! LOL! understand about being teased. oh man...children can be soooo cruel. i definitely was the Ugly Duckling in school. it really bothers me when people make fun of others...especially overweight people. we are the same person on the inside. luv your swan, Kimmers!!! hugggzzz

I love the shot, and your story is very touching, I think I felt the same way growing up.. Anyhow, I can recomend the canon Digital system camera, I use the canon 10D but If to buy a new, it would be the 20D insted. The downside on any system camera is the price.

You are beautiful inside and out - and it shines in all your art. This is so lovely - I like the swan's smile - and also your story. I think most everyone, especially in childnood, has felt like an ugly duckling. :o) CC

mmmmmm isnt a secret my love of swans hehehe and this is no exception .. alot of hard patient work has paid off.....With camera GO with what suits you What you feel comfortable with, and what suits your needs..and the olympus is a good camera also...at the end of the day its down to ablility and the Eye for Art...With me started off with a finepix fuji s5000, all my gallery used that camera..its a stunning little starter camera..Reason to up grade to a dlsr is for working more with lens and faster shutter speeds and time to move on... but at the end of the day, its the same monkey behind the view finer.. hehehehe...hugs lovely composition...:)

Wonderful photo of that gracious bird, and your postwork sure made it even more beautiful, I love the colors and the water is just gorgeous! Thanks for your story, I am sure we all can identify with it, at least some time we have felt like the ugly duckling.

I just LOVE his wing.It looks amazing. The ripples on the water look feathery, too. Beautiful!I 'm not a big fan of swans myself, once when Paige was a baby a swan chased us at our nearby pond. With its wings outstretched I assure you it looked quite monstrous. I don't know if they have teeth but I wasn't waiting to find out!Another time we watched in horror as a male swan drowned a bunch of canadian geese babies. And last of all, I almost had a car accident when one literally fell out of the sky right in front of my car. So...you can understand now I think. LOL. I just had to share that!Sorry so long!
